As part of the campaign to let the world know the wonders of Korean dishes, a night of Korea or "Soiree Coreenne" will be held on June 24 and 25 in Paris, France, the Corea Image Communication Institute said.

The event will be held at Paris-le Grand InterContinental Hotel, Salle d`Opera, jointly arranged by the government and the private sector.

A luncheon on June 24 will invite French journalists and food experts for them to get a taste of Korean dishes, such as a posh version of bibimbab cooked by Bae Han-chul, Seoul InterContinental Hotels` director of kitchens.

Through the luncheon, Korea will be showing how Korea`s most representative dish can be made with French ingredients by explaining the cooking procedure, the CICI said.

At the June 25 dinner party, more than 300 opinion leaders of France including politicians, artists, business representatives and ambassadors of OECD member states will gather.

The menu for the night is designed byo Chung Myung-whun, who has conducted most prominent European and American orchestras, and served as the music director of the Paris Opera and Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France.

They include roasted sea scallops, "japchae" (potato noodles) stir-fried with vegetables, grilled white fish with spring onions, red pepper paste and fish dumpling, slow-cooked short ribs with an agaric mushroom topping and layered Korean pear and radish terrine.

There will also be performances by leading Korean artists, such as soprano Jo Su-mi and pianist Kim Sun-wook.

Prime Minister Han Seung-soo will also attend the event.

The two-day extravaganza is co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade Ministry, the Ministry for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the Culture, Sports and Tourism Ministry, Korea Foundation and CICI.
